The Island of Gran Canaria is situated between the larger islands Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

Gran Canaria is often described as being like a continent in miniature and the warm climate make Gran Canaria an ideal destination for both winter breaks and summer holidays.

The number of annual visitors is over two million. 

However, in the recent years some new promising resorts like Playa de Amadores, Playa Taurito and Meloneras have turned up.

For the golf enthusiast, Gran Canaria is home to Spain's oldest golf course, Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas, and several newer courses.

Along with the fine weather and picturesque sea and mountain views, the island is the perfect location for a golfing holiday.

Climate in Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria boasts a sub-tropical climate, offering year round warm weather and almost constant sunshine.

The chance of rain is relatively low, especially in the southern part of the island. When it does rain it tends to be for short periods.

Beaches in Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria offers many fantastic beaches.

Most of them are situated on the south coast, like Playa de Maspalomas, Playa de Puerto Rico and the 'lovers beach' Playa de los Amadores.

In the northen part of Gran Canaria you find the magnificient Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria’s main city.

These charming villages gain insight into the culture and history of Gran Canaria. One of the most beautiful is the ancient mountain village of Teror (photo).

In the north the village of Arucas boasts historic buildings, but is mostly famous for its rum production.
