Climate in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria boasts a sub-tropical climate, offering year round warm weather and almost constant sunshine.

Average temperatures during the winter months are around 20°C rising to 28°C in the summer months. When the hot summer winds are blowing in from the Sahara desert, temperatures around 40°C is not uncommon.

The chance of rain is relatively low, especially in the southern part of the island. When it does rain it tends to be for short periods in the cooler months of January and February. The summer months July, August, and September are normally rainless.
