Maspalomas is located west of Playa del Inglés. Together with
Meloneras, the three resorts are practically melted together as
one major resort.
Compared to Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas is rather quiet and an
excellent
choice for the family vacation.
The Beach
Playa de Maspalomas is one of the best beaches in Gran
Canaria. The beach is 5-6 kilometers long and up to 100m wide,
so there is plenty of space to romp in the fine golden sand.
Most children families are
enjoying the beach south of the lighthouse 'Faro de Maspalomas'.
Here is also a small boardwalk located with restaurants and
stores. Toilets are also found here.
The beach in Maspalomas has a
large and popular section for nudists. It is located close to
Playa del Inglés. Further away there is also a popular section
for gays.
Restaurants and nightlife
There are loads of restaturants in Maspalomas, most of them are located
in the centres, e.g. the popular centre 'Faro II'.
The nightlife
is pretty quiet in Maspalomas, but the distance is very short to
the hectic nightlife in Playa del Inglés.
Activities
Maspalomas offers many activities for children and adults.
The beautiful beach, the sand dunes and the desert are obviously
an activity in itself, and it is even possible to ride a camel´s
back in the dunes.
But the resort also invites you
to one of Gran Canarias largest amusement parks, Holiday world,
which offers traditional amusements like rollercoasters,
shooting tents, carousels and a 27-meter high ferris-wheel.
The largest
water park in Gran Canaria is also located in Maspalomas. There are as much as 33 slides and several pools, with and
without waves.
There is also a challenging golf course, Campo de Golf de Maspalomas. It is located all the way
out to the sand dunes and has previously been subject to
international tournaments.
