Playa del Inglés
Playa del Inglés is by far the largest and most visited resort of Gran Canaria. In Europe, only a
few resorts are larger than Playa del Inglés.
The resort has it all. Gigantic beach
with its own exclusive desert area, golf course, five major shopping
malls, loads of restaurants and the wildest nightlife of Gran
Canaria.
The Beach
The beach in Playa del Inglés is mile-long and contains soft golden sand. It starts by going south and continues west – all the
way to the lighthouse in Maspalomas.
The beach is not particularly shallow,
and is therefore not suitable for young children. On the other hand
there are plenty of activities on the water, including water skiing,
banana boating, jet skiing and paragliding.
The southern part of the beach
consists of the famous Maspalomas desert that impresses with its
amazing sand dunes. This part of the beach is also popular among
naturists and homosexuals.
Restaurants and nightlife
There are a countless number of restaurants in Playa del Inglés.
Most of these are located in the five major centers of which the
Yumbo Centre probably houses the largest number of restaurants.
The Nightlife is particularly hectic
in the Kabash centre and the nearby Metro Centre. These centers are
filled with bars, discos and nightclubs.
Activities
There are many activities for the entire family in Playa del Inglés,
including amusement arcades, mini-golf, tennis, golf, scuba diving,
skydiving and go-carting. Another very popular activity in Playa del
Inglés is a ride around the Maspalomas Dunes on the back of a camel.
The largest water park on Gran
Canaria, Aqualand Aquasur, is situated in nearby Maspalomas. The
water park offer dozens of water slides, swimming pools and a wave
