San Agustin is
situated on the south east coast of Gran Canaria and the resort
directly borders to the larger
Playa del Ingles.
San Agustin was
the first resort to be established in Gran Canaria in the 1970s,
even before Playa del Ingles and
Puerto Rico. However, unlike
some of the other resorts on the island, San Agustin has
retained its original character and charm.
The resort is
even one of the most luxuriant resorts in the southern part of
Gran Canaria.
The transfer
time from the airport is roughly 25 minutes by car and a little
more by bus.
The beaches
in San Agustin San
Agustin has two beaches: Playa de San Agustin and Playa de las
Burras. Both offers fine grained sand and partly lava sand.
The sea is
fairly shallow thus good for families with children. Large waves
occur but only rarely.
The beaches are
lined by a lovely promenade, which runs the entire length of San
Agustin and all the way to Playa del Inglés - and from there to
Maspalomas.
There are a few
water sports available in San Agustin.
Restaurants and nightlife in San Agustin San
Agustin has a fine selection of restaurants and small bars. Most
of them is located in the shopping centre.
The nightlife is
pretty quiet but the very lively Playa del Inglés is close by.
Activities in
Agustin San Agustin offer a international casino at the five star
hotel Melia Tamarindos.
The popular wild
west world 'Sioux City' is close to San Agustin and definitely
worth a visit for families with children.
There is one shopping
centre in San Agustin, Commercial Centre San Agustin.
